Sharmin Segal is an Indian actress known for her work in Bollywood films. She started her career as an assistant director to her uncle, the outstanding filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and made her acting debut film in his production, “Malaal” (2019), Malaal earned her a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She was Born on September 28, 1995, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Sharmin has been active in the film industry since 2019.
In a 2019 interview, Segal opened up about being fat-shamed as a teenager. She mentioned that she was overweight as a teen and claimed that she was made fun of in school till she graduated. She has also starred in the film “Atithi Bhooto Bhava” (2022) and the series “Heeramandi” (2024). In her personal life, Sharmin Segal married Aman Mehta in 2023, who comes from a big billionaire family. Her family was deep roots in the film industry, with her father, Deepak Segal, being the content head of Applause Entertainment industry, and her mother, Bela Bhansali Segal, being a film editor who has worked on various Sanjay Leela Bhansali projects.
Sharmin’s paternal grandfather, Mohan Segal, was a successful film director, and her maternal grandparents are film producers Navin Bhansali and Leela Bhansali. She completed her acting course at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York. Sharmin’s journey in the film industry began at the age of 18 when she assisted on “Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela” and has since worked on films such as “Mary Kom” (2014), “Bajirao Mastani” (2015), and “Gangubai Kathiawadi” (2022)
